Voice of Kindness
A Biblical Approach on Crisis Intervention
Why Take This Course?
Suicide is not a "people problem"—it's the result of deep emotional pain, relational poverty, and mental health struggles that many face in silence. Depression, anxiety, and despair, often stemming from emotional, mental, or spiritual wounds, can lead to hopelessness—and ultimately, suicide. While the problem may seem insurmountable, there is hope. The Church, uniquely positioned to provide spiritual healing, can make a significant impact in reducing suicidal thoughts and behaviors by equipping its members with the tools to intervene effectively.
This course, Voices of Kindness: A Biblical Approach on Crisis Intervention, provides practical and spiritual strategies for supporting those in crisis. The Church has an urgent opportunity to create safe spaces for vulnerability, where struggles can be met with compassion rather than stigma. By integrating the Think 3-2-1 Crisis Intervention Strategy and the BE KIND Model Workshops, this course helps us address mental health needs with a faith-based approach that fosters hope, healing, and connectedness.
If you would like to be a part of promoting this curriculum, please reach out to Dr. Gaviola-Feck. I would be honored to present a 20 minute overview on this important topic to church leadership or representative. The Voices of Kindness Course begins with an initial workshop based on the BE KIND model, focusing on the most extreme crisis: suicidal ideation. This is followed by a course titled The Spectrum of Resilience, which fosters a healthy balance of intervention, prevention, and postvention strategies. Additional training will include understanding the role of the church, the Safety Peace Plan and Breaking the Stigma.
